Description

High Rise Sit-Stand Desk Converter is a simple solution to a common workplace problem: too much sitting. Studies show that sitting for prolonged periods of time is detrimental to your health. Using this converter to stand while you're working reduces or eliminates the pain you experience from being hunched over your desks and the negative long-term effects of sitting for long hours. It transforms any sit-down desk into a sit or stand-up desk. The 28" wide x 23" deep surface is raised up to 15-1/2" for ergonomic placement of laptop computer, keyboard, mouse or papers while standing. Gas strut design allows easy custom height adjustment of both desk and monitor with the loosening of a knob. Monitor holder is also height-adjustable. For a break from standing, simply push the surface down to desktop level. Sleek wood construction and a durable laminate coating provide years of use. The rear portion of the desk is tapered to fit corner cubicles. Heavy steel base prevents tipping

I bought the Victor DC300 because I sit way too much at my computer and we all know this can be extremely detrimental to your health.Three days into using my new standing desk. Here are my thoughts. It is extremely well made and easy to use. Nothing cheap or cheesy about the manufactured construction of this product. No electric components. It has pistons in the neck that allow everything to glide easily up and down. I am a woman over 65 and I put it together myself in about a half an hour or so. Completely assembled it weighs 40 lbs, plus whatever the monitor weighs, so if you are small you probably should ask someone to help you lift it. Then I had to move my tower and peripherals around a bit so that the cables for the tower, monitor, webcam, keyboard, separate sound system, etc. would not be constricted at all in the up and down movement. That took a while but my office got tidier.Very simple to operate and it functions really well. The surface that the keyboard and mouse sit on is 1" above my actual desk surface when in the full down position. This does not cause any discomfort when operating my keyboard or mouse in this position, plus I have several inches of actual desk surface in front of it for elbow leaning etc. It is neither attractive or unattractive, I guess, but it does have that high quality look and fits into the décor of my office nicely. It is black like my computer parts and my furniture is oak. Looks good. The list price on this item is $449.00 but I have seen it as high as $550.00 before tax! Why would someone pay more than list? Of course I did not pay list. On Amazon (Prime) I paid a lot less.Total Before Tax: $274.99Tax Collected: $19.25Shipment Total: $294.24There are other models that are less expensive for folks who don't need to mount a monitor, like laptop users, but if I was using a laptop and wanted to stand, I would probably just set it on a kitchen bar or on a box. I don't think I would buy a standing desk. Watching the comparison video convinced me that I wanted to be able to adjust the height of my monitor as well as the desk surface. Also, having a loose monitor just standing on a flat surface didn't seem so safe, so I chose this one. The monitor is secure and can't fall. There is the slightest flexing of the desktop surface in the up position which I do not find to be a problem as it is very minor, but for those who want a rock-steady surface there is an adjustable stabilizer bar included that is similar to a mini shower curtain bar, that you can easily add and remove to prop up the desk surface. I don't know that I will feel the need for that, but if I do it is there.I am happy with this purchase and don't regret the expenditure. There are videos available on YouTube to help you decide what is right for you.I was very skeptical as this desk converter only had one review. I went ahead an purchased it due to it being Prime eligible and I know that since it was fulfilled by Amazon that I wouldn't have any issues returning it. I now have no interest in returning it and just about everyone in my office wants one. This is an amazing alternative to forking out $1,500 on a full sized desk.I am giving this five stars overall as this desk conversions has exceeded my expectations, but that is not to say there could be some improvements:Pros:1. I am 6' 5" and at it's highest setting it is perfect for me.2. The hydraulic system which converts from sitting to standing and visa versa is smooth and effortless.3. There is a slight bounce when typing, but the addition of the tension supports is a great idea and solves that problem.4. For the most part, very easy to set up.5. It allows for vertical and lateral monitor tilting, which several more expensive competitors did not have.6. Keyboard tray is nice and large and is now holding my keyboard, mouse with mouse pad, a picture frame, rubber band and paperclip holders, post its all over the place, etc..7. It is a solid piece of furniture that does not feel flimsy at all.Cons:1. Tightening the nut which controls the monitor tilt is a little frustrating. As you tighten, the monitor wants to move with it. I would recommend having someone else hold the monitor at your desired position while they tighten. I would also recommend using a socket wrench as the little crescent wrench just does not cut it.2. I think little predrilled cutouts where the support legs could rest in on the underside of the keyboard tray would be helpful just to ensure they stay in place (mine have no moved at all since using though). Just a thought :)I would highly recommend this for anyone that wants to get off their cadunk and hopefully avoid the forming of blood clots. I hope they stock some more because we are coming for them!I have been looking at standing desks for several months now and couldn't make a decision. I didn't want to spend a lot and then find I hated the item. I tested the VariDesk and decided it was too bulky and the height adjustment was limited to the predetermined levels. After reading reviews of many others I decided on the Victor High Rise even though I was a bit skeptical not knowing how sturdy it was. I was afraid it would topple over, but I am pleasantly surprised that the base is very heavy and does not feel top heavy when I am standing. The product comes with two "legs" that are not show in the picture to help make the keyboard more sturdy when standing. I find that these are helpful even though they look like they wouldn't do much. For me using them keeps the wobble factor to minimum when typing. I have found that I stand up more that I sit since I've had this for over a month. When I do sit, it is very easy to change the position down and back up again. I also put a small sticker on the part that goes up and down to mark the standing height which makes it a quick reset to standing after sitting - no need to measure my position before locking in. There is plenty of space between the keyboard and the back of the platform to hold my computer speakers, a couple nick-nacks, my coffee and papers I might be working from. Overall I am glad I bought this, the only thing I wish it had was an extension off to the side for writing! The product was shipped rapidly by the seller. The material is solid and fit perfectly on my Bestar desk. I'm amaze after few weeks of use, how is easy to switch from sit to stand and be more productive during a long meeting while being stand. Will certainly recommend this product for users that are working remotely right now and want a good alternative to change the entire desk!
