The lamp had a short in the power cord right out of the box. Every time I plugged it in it blew a circuit breaker but I was able to take the power cord out of my child's old lamp and install it in this lamp. I works fine now except it has a white power cord now instead of the black cord it originally came with. The lamp overall is great quality and very well built. The power cord short was probably just a one in a million thing, I'm just a bit unlucky sometimes. The lamp looks great in my child's Super Mario themed room.The Mario Bros. graphic is of bright colors and sharp image. The lamp is of very sturdy construction and high quality materials. The light cast down over the graphic to be seen. My initial thought was it would be nice if the base was a night light, however, I then realize it most likely wouldn't be made of a durable material to withstand the use by a child. Great addition to a room of a Mario Bros. fan. Perfect size for on a desk and/or dresser.My son is 11 and he got this for Christmas and he loves super Mario and he loves his lamp it goes great in his room and gives off plenty of light for night time reading.
